Painting is like music to my soul. I enjoy creating a visual mood on paper that evokes a memory, a feeling, a moment in time. And like a good musical composition, all the instruments need to work together; my instruments just happen to be paint, brushes and water that give life to a blank sheet of watercolor paper. I am continually fascinated with the magic that happens when a brush loaded with rich color hits wet paper and I get to direct the flow!
One of the greatest pleasures of being an artist is the opportunity to get acquainted with local gardeners and friends who allow me to paint their flowers, gardens and favorite treasures. I like to think that a bit of their personalities mix with the pigments on paper to make each painting a truly unique and original composition. It is also a delight to live in Western North Carolina, surrounded by breath-taking scenery, whether standing on the Blue Ridge Parkway, or pausing next to a woodland waterfall – rich inspiration for my paintings.
I am a full time artist, with a professional background in Clinical Art Therapy.
